What the key tasks will look like

As IT Project Manager, you will lead the IT delivery of multiple DKV initiatives, ensuring alignment with our overarching IT strategy, architectural and security standards, and internal policies. You’ll be responsible for the successful, high-quality, and secure execution of project scopes—delivered on time and within budget.

Your role includes full-cycle project management, from planning to execution, using DKV’s established toolset and templates. This involves managing gate documents, nonfunctional requirements, IT estimations (leveraging both top-down and bottom-up techniques), project schedules, time tracking, monthly status reporting, and documentation such as SteerCo presentations, meeting minutes, action logs, and risk logs. 

You’ll collaborate closely with:

  • Transformation Leads to apply DKV’s Project Stage Gate model

  • IT Architects to align with architectural direction and solution design

  • IT Operations & Offshore Teams to modernize and enhance infrastructure

  • Product Owners & Development Teams using agile methodologies

  • Transformation Office to balance priorities and resource allocation

  • Various IT & Business Stakeholders including IT Security, IT Office, and Business Owners

More specifically, your tasks will be: 

  • Make certain of the IT project objectives and feasibility;
  • Delineate, clarify and set phases for the project content, taking account of the project roadmap and dependencies;
  • Collect non-functional requirements;
  • Align and integrate architectural direction setting and security requirements;
  • Identify and manage project interdependencies, risks and issues and proactively take or recommend the necessary measures;
  • Draw up an all-encompassing IT project plan aligned with resource managers and other project managers;
  • Negotiate with and direct internal and external IT parties;
  • Stabilize project mobilization by applying project change control;
  • Identify relevant stakeholders and elaborate communication plan;
  • Communicate regularly and clearly on the progress of the project to management and business partners;
  • Elaborate meeting minutes and track agreed actions;
  • Schedule project resources/forecast budget and track and evaluate progress;
  • Responsible for the follow up of procedures and delivery of expected project results;
  • Set up and maintain project configuration (manuals, documents, etc.);
  • Advise Project Portfolio Board in case of re-prioritization of projects;
  • Formulate the required improvements by way of “Lessons Learned”;
  • Proposes, documents and validates new procedures regarding Project management/Governance inside IT;
  • Ensure the smooth transition from project mode to operational mode ;

Required skills and competencies

  • Higher degree or equivalent through relevant experience (at least 5 years);
  • Proven experience in leading and monitoring multiple projects in a matrix structure (at least 3 years);
  • Experience with tools that are used within DKV: MS Project Online, Jira, Confluence, …
  • Fluency in English and a good understanding of French and/or Dutch;
  • Experience in finance/insurance domains is a strong advantage; 
  • Strong communication and influencing skills (being able to visualize/summarize; guide and influence stakeholders); 
  • Result oriented and pro-active (out of the box reflections on how to overcome project challenges);
  • Team-builder in matrix organization (solid understanding of what it takes to get buy-in from all required project team members; Follow up
    of progress made, diplomatic in tackling conflicts; Negotiator with a win-win focus);
  • Eager to learn and to invest in gathering additional knowledge.
