What the key tasks will look like

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated IT Test Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team in IT Contracts. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products through the strategic implementation and continuous improvement of test automation. You will be responsible for participating in the planning and design of test approaches, preparing and executing comprehensive test campaigns, and developing and maintaining robust automated test scripts and frameworks. Collaborating closely with development teams and business stakeholders, you will drive the adoption of automation best practices and contribute to a culture of quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Planning

  • Follow the creation of test plans: participate to reviews, give advice on the test approach.
  • Participate in design reviews and providing input on requirements, product design, and potential problems.

Testing

  • Prepare test campaigns in collaboration with the test coordinator.
  • Create test cases in collaboration with the project team.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using various automation tools and programming languages.
  • Collaborate with development teams and business to identify test cases for automation.
  • Design and implement automation frameworks and strategies that align with business needs and objectives.
  • Execute and analyze automated test results to identify defects and potential issues (ex: database impacts and usability).
  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on code quality and testability.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to the test automation process, including test plans, test cases, and automation scripts.
  • Continuously improve and optimize the test automation process through automation best practices and tooling.
  • Follow UAT (User Acceptance Tests) execution with the test coordinator, help business to execute their tests.

Automation

  • Work on test automation (new challenge, install, create and maintain automation)

Required skills and competencies

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as IT Tester, by preference in the insurance sector
  • Fluency in Dutch, French and English
  • Technical knowledge:
    • Good knowledges of ISTQB, REST API, API Testing, SOAP protocol, SQL database, XML and HTML
    • Basic understanding of version control tools like GIT
    • Basic understanding of Java
    • Experience with test automation tools
    • Knowledge about Robot Framework and ReadyAPI could be very helpful
    • Experience with CI/CD (Bitbucket,...)
    • Analytical thinking
    • Knowledge of Jira, Test Management (JIRA add-in) is considered as a plus
  • Ability to write technical documentation for non-technical users
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, a methodical approach to working, and a keen eye for detail
  • Team player
